Whether you’re replacing worn-out strings on your racket or stringing your first badminton racket, at Stringers’ World, we offer players a wide range of badminton strings in a variety of thicknesses, so you can customise your racket to match your preferences. From thin 0.61mm gauges that help you generate more power to 0.70mm gauges for longer-lasting tension, our collection features badminton strings from leading brands like Yonex and Ashaway.
Badminton strings are designed in a range of thicknesses that affect the durability, control, and feel whilst playing.Â
Thinner strings (0.61mm to 0.67mm), like the Yonex Aerosonic 0.61mm, can provide more feel and responsiveness and offer more control and precision, making them ideal for advanced badminton players.Â
Thicker strings (0.68mm to 0.70mm), like the Yonex BG 65 Ti, are more durable and forgiving on mishits, and can hold the tension for longer. This makes them ideal for beginner players and casual players, who are looking for more power in their shots.Â
The thickness of badminton strings affects how the shuttlecock interacts with your racket and how the racket feels when you strike the shuttle. If you’re a beginner using very thin strings with a feathered shuttlecock, you may find your shots harder to control, especially on off-centre hits, and the strings are more likely to snap due to the extra stress placed on them.
If you’re more advanced and opt for thicker strings, you may notice the feel of the shuttle is more muted, with less feedback through the racket. This can make it harder to place shots precisely, particularly when playing softer or more controlled strokes.
If you’re new to replacing strings, we would recommend getting a professional to string your badminton racket, as they will ensure that the tension is correct, which can protect the frame and provide you with better performance.Â
However, if you feel confident in replacing your badminton racket strings but need the tools to get started, visit our stringing tools page.
There isn’t a single best string tension, as it depends on how you play and your level of experience. Lower tensions are generally more forgiving and can help with power, while higher tensions offer more control and a firmer feel but require a cleaner contact with the shuttle.
Most players sit somewhere in the middle, as it can provide a balance between power, control, and comfort. However, as your technique improves, you may want to adjust your badminton racket tension slightly to suit your playing style, rather than making large changes all at once.
