The Yonex Vcore 98 is the centrepiece of the 8th-generation VCORE lineup. Known as the all-rounder’s choice for competitive players, the 2026 model evolves the frame to be more forgiving while doubling down on its signature aerodynamic spin. The most noticeable change is the Ruby Red aesthetic, which features a deep metallic finish moving away from the more complex colour schemes of previous years. Key Technologies: – Yonex has marketed the 2026 generation around four pillars: Sweet Spot, Snapback, Speed, and Stability. – Expanded Sweet Spot: The upper hoop at 10 and 2 o’clock is wider and slightly more square than the 2023 version. This increases the hitting area high in the string bed, where modern players often make contact when searching for maximum leverage and spin. – Horizontal Snapback Grommets: The grommets at the top of the frame are redesigned with a horizontal orientation to allow the strings to move more freely laterally. This increased movement creates a more violent “snapback” effect, producing higher RPMs. – Servo Filter: This is the flagship material update for 2026. A transparent, elastic film is placed between graphite layers to absorb high-frequency vibrations. It aims to make the racket feel more connected and plush. – Aero Trench & Fins: The frame continues to feature hidden grommets at the top and aerodynamic fins on the lower hoop to reduce wind drag, allowing for the rapid racket head speed required for heavy topspin “wiper” swings.
